The Balnaves Foundation grant of $40,000 helped Northcott Disability Services establish a new community fundraising initiative, The Northcott School Fundraiser.
The Northcott School Fundraiser is an incentive based program where children raise funds for Northcott Disability Services and their school.
Students receive an extra incentive where they receive prizes for the money that they raise. The more money that students raise the bigger the prize they receive.
Through a $280,000 donation in 2007, The Balnaves Foundation and Sydney Opera House together created the Balnaves Foundation Open House Program, the first ever access program at Sydney Opera House targeting disadvantaged communities.
The Balnaves Foundation Open House Program was created to broaden community access to the Sydney Opera House by offering subsidised tickets at $5 for selected performances. Community groups and individuals alike had the opportunity to attend a performance at this affordable price.
