Bond University
The Balnaves Foundation donated $1.5 million towards the cost of a new state-of-the-art Multimedia Learning Centre at Bond University which opened in 2008. In recognition of the donation, the University named the new centre the Balnaves Foundation Multimedia Learning Centre.
The centre provides a technologically rich space where students can study in groups or individually on their research projects. They can communicate with their lecturers and other students, use iLearn, wireless internet, print assignments, watch DVDs in groups or individually, create multi-media presentations and attend seminars and workshops.
The centre incorporates a laptop bar, study booths, digital art displays and includes a Collaborative Learning Room with state-of-the-art equipment including a Smartboard, HD projector, video conferencing technology and game consoles.
This exceptional facility has become a showcase for visitors with its attractive digital displays, visually appealing space design and new technologies. The new facility features innovative learning technologies and attractive flexible furniture to meet a wide range of learning needs for Bond students. The Australian Institute of Architects has awarded the Multimedia Learning Centre the G.H.M Addison Award for Interior Architecture.
In 2009, Neil Balnaves donated two Robert Klippel Sculptures to be displayed around the campus.
Neil Balnaves has just completed a six year term as a Councilor of the University and will continue serving as a Trustee. His substantial commitment to the university was recognized in 2008 when he was awarded with an Honorary Doctorate.
